16:40 Update
GNER are now advising that passengers who can reschedule their journey to an alternative date should do so.

Ok so this is not FCC, but I thought it was worth a blog entry seeing as not a lot is happening on FCC today.

At Approx 13:20 I had a phonecall from Peterborough Platform saying the Overheads had failed at Grantham and that there would be a lot of GNER passengers (note your not called customers anymore) on Advance Tickets messed up.

This has also screwed up Central Trains as well.

As you can see from the Screenshot of the Internal GNER screen for Kings Cross things are pretty bad.

GNER Compensation:
1 hour or more:50% in vouchers
2 hours or more:100% in vouchers
3 hours or more:100% in cash

Central Trains Compensation:
30mins or more: 50% of the price paid for that journey (i.e. £3 on a £12 return ticket £6 on a £12 single ticket)

20:30

It has come to my attention that the subway at Ely station has flooded, so all the trains are having to use only Platform 1, Delays are expected.

18:00

“We are sorry but… all services are …. delayed. This is due to…. Weather Problems on the line….. please listen for further annoucements.”

17:28

Services are being disrupted in the Ely area due to a signalling problem.

Alterations and delays of up to 45 minutes can be expected. The estimate for a normal service to resume is 2-3 hours.

Carl needs your help. Please help….

As Posted By another fellow Transport Worker Tube Dude, and not its not one of them Chain Emails ive picked up either.

Listen I need your help, big style.

I have recently met a delightful young man.

Carl, is 11 years old, and is suffering from a deep-seated and inoperable brain tumour. Those in the know have told Carl that he has only about 6 months left to live.

Now, this young man has grasped his life with both hands and as I understand it, living life flat out on max.

He has one wish, and that is to get himself into the Guinness world record book, by collecting huge amounts of post cards.

This is where we come in.

What I want you, my readers to do, is to send the guy a post card or 2 or 3 or more. Please don’t write “get well” or stuff like that ‘cos he knows that he wont.

Just put a simple “Hi”

If you run a blog, please feel free to either link to this, copy it, or just try and get your readers to do the same and send him a card.

Please send your cards to:
Carl

If you don’t do anything else this weekend, please do send a card to Carl.

Another Fatality at Hatfield

July 22, 2006 on 1:20 pm | In FCC, First Hull Trains, GNER | Comments Off

At around 13:00 my pager reported a fatality in the Alexandra Palace/Welwyn Garden City area, This resulted in trains being brought to a standstill in the Hatfield area and any trains which had passed the Hertford branch line were also brought to a stop.At the moment there are still some delays as GNER, Hull Trains and FCC services are all affected and are being sent down the Hertford Branch Line, Same number of Trains using less tracks and less space. A combo of Fun!

What some people dont seem to understand in the time of a fatality is that every time it is fully investigated. If foul play is suspected then the lines will remain closed. Then it needs to be photographed (by the Police, Network Rail and maybe the TOC), then it needs to be cleaned up.

Now heres a special message for that customer who asked me “why dont they just drive over the body and carry on as normal”.
Well mr insensitve customer, you wouldnt say the same if it was YOUR son/daughter who was affected.

GNER to issue new Uniform - its crap by the way.

July 21, 2006 on 5:03 pm | In GNER | Comments Off

GNER are moaning they have no money and so what do they do? Issue a new uniform which looks completely crap.

My first words were “Thunderbirds are Go”. Man I would refuse to wear this crap, at least FCC’s pink shirts are better then a Airline Trolly Dolly style hat!

Oooh whats this? A new handbag? All the better to swing round and hit you with. I cant see this taking off either considering most staff use good old BR style laptop case bags, plus you can get more stuff in them as well.

For more information on the new GNER crap uniform go to http://www.gner.co.uk/GNER/Livewire/Features/uniforms.htm
