I would like to take this moment to thank all of you people who stopped what they were doing at 12:00 for the two minutes silence. I along with all of my colleagues also stopped and made our own respects. Trains were also held (i.e. not allowed to leave) until 12:03 as a mark of respect.
Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell, Mayor of London Ken Livingstone and Transport Commissioner Peter Hendy will lay flowers at King’s Cross station at 08.50am on Friday, at the time of the first explosion.
In Regent’s Park, the names of the victims will be read out while at St Paul’s Cathedral, four candles - one for each of the blasts - will be lit at the exact times of the incidents.
At midday, a two-minute silence will be observed across the UK, and I would hope that you observe it wherever you are.
I belive that First Capital Connect will be reminding drivers to annouce the two minutes silence and also there will be station annoucements stating the same information.
Elsewhere, during private services for families and friends of the victims, commemorative plaques will be unveiled at King’s Cross, Russell Square, Edgware Road and Aldgate stations and at Tavistock Square where the Number 30 bus exploded.
Slight problems on FCC today.
First one was unfortunally a Fatality in the Meldreth area at around 07:00 this morning. I hope the driver is okay. The line was re-open at around 09:00 this morning.
At around 08:00 the Moorgate branch line was closed due to an electrical supply problem. This line has additional safety systems which must also be working in order for the line to continue to have a service. The line was re-open at around 11:30.
Its another Monday, another hot day and surprise surprise The Tube is cocked up again. Cue 20MPH speed limits because lines may buckle under the heat.
Cue the usual corp bulls*it about the tube being hot. Yes we know it is now do somthing about it, oh im sorry I forgot your sitting in your Air Con office earning 100k a year.
So Sherif Ken decided to tell everyone about the new super dooper cooling units which are going on trial, apparently, at some stations. Yeah id like to see them install them on the Northern Line (sorry misery line).
Sherif Ken continued and stated that they may have to close the whole of some of the deep level lines (pic, vic, northern, jubliee) if the heat gets too high.
Of course I really do feel sorry for the staff having to work ALL THE TIME in the heat which exceeds 35C on some days. It is normally up to 5C hotter down below then at street level.
Ok so nothing much is going on, everything seems to be okay and working fine. The trains are working okay and the ticket systems are working a “Normal Service”. Thats on FCC!
It Seems Central were having problems today, but I have not got a faintest idea what was happening as they dont serve any of the stations which I work from.
