The Ticket Collector

Forthcoming Engineering Works Sat16/Sun17

September 11, 2006 on 5:00 pm | In FCC, First Hull Trains, GNER | Comments Off

If you are traveling anytime this weekend coming please please do remember to check the amended timetable as many services are not running to the normal timetable.

E.g. there are buses between Welwyn Garden City and Stevenage. Cambridge Services will be starting and terminating at Letchworth and Services from Peterborough to London will not be able to stop at Hitchin.
There will be buses from Stevenage to Letchworth direct (missing out Hitchin). Oh and Buses from Stevenage to Hitchin.
Dont forget the buses between Stevenage and Hertford North.

There will also be buses between Kings Lynn and Ely on the Sunday.

If last weekend is anything to go by, expect long delays, and single line working.

This will affect GNER, Hull Trains and First Capital Connect.

Problems at Shepreth on Sunday

September 5, 2006 on 8:22 am | In FCC | Comments Off

Ok so this post is a bit late and the problem has now been fixed but its a news/blog entry all the same.

One of the switches on the Overheads tripped, and thus this caused the route between Cambridge, Royston and onwards to become blocked. (Due to no power). Several trains were stuck in the section affected and this caused delays later on.

Network Rail managed to fix the Up Line and trains were able to get towards london but not the other way.

Eventully trains were terminated at Letchworth due to the fact it is easier to turn them around. A bus service was put on for passengers to go onwards to Cambridge, Ely and other places.
